Confident You

When you look in that mirror, what do you see? What do you see in yourself? As a society, we are so accustomed to noticing imperfections. Many of us even have those conversations in our heads with the little voice I call Mr. Ego. Mr. Ego will tell us why we are not good enough. It is better just to stay back and not draw attention to ourselves. Stay quiet and stay safe.

That voice will explain all the reasons why you shouldn’t draw attention to yourself. Firstly, it is just a narrative, and it can be changed. We must learn to have confidence in ourselves. Having low self-esteem is not healthy. Negative self-talk is destructive because it can keep you from getting ahead. If you want to try new things but think you’re not good enough, it can hinder your progress.

There are ways that you can have more confidence in yourself. Take stock of all the wonderful talents you have accomplished. We are all unique, and we all have gifts. Do people feel better when they talk to you? Are you artistic? Are you a handy person? Just as easy as it is to criticize, it is to compliment. For every negative statement you say about yourself, replace it with a positive one.

Place sticky notes with beautiful reinforcement messages that remind you of how wonderful you are. The more you see it in front of you the more you will get used to the idea of having confidence. You were not meant to live in the shadow. You’re here to thrive and shine.
